Nepal Reinsurance is the state-owned reinsurer of Nepal. It was incorporated in 2014 AD by the participation of the life and non life insurance companies of Nepal along with the supports from Government of Nepal. Nepal Re is providing reinsurance support to more than 30 countries worldwide.

Himalayan Reinsurance Limited (HRL) is the first private sector reinsurance company of Nepal. The prominent promoters include 2 of the topmost commercial banks of Nepal, (which are primarily owned by the Govt. of Nepal). More than 20 leading business and corporate houses of Nepal, with business activities spread across various sectors of the Nepalese economy. AM Best Singapore has assigned B Fair rating for financial strength and BB+ for issuer rating to HRL.

Hannover Re is the World’s 3rd Largest reinsurance company in the world. The credit rating of the reinsurer by the Standard and Poor’s AA− (Very Strong), and A.M. Best A+ (Superior). (Updated on 22 August 2022).

Scor is the world’s 4th Largest reinsurance company and serves more than 160 countries from 38 offices worldwide. The reinsurer’s credit rating in the Standard and Poor’s AA− (Negative Outlook on 31 January 2022), and A.M. Best A+ (Stable Outlook on 22 September 2021).
